Amo Applauds Edesia’s Progress in Bringing Back RI Jobs and Ramping Up Food Aid Production

August 6, 2025

Rhode Island-based Edesia Nutrition has long been hit hard by Trump’s foreign aid freeze, which has threatened starving children globally and jobs in Rhode Island.

Providence, RI – TODAY, House Foreign Affairs Vice Ranking Member Gabe Amo (D-RI) released the following statement on Edesia Nutrition’s announcement about the State Department’s resumption of funding for the production and delivery of ready-to-use-therapeutic food (RUTF) aid:

"Rhode Islanders know that saving starving children is just the right thing to do, which is why I am encouraged by Edesia Nutrition’s resolve and commitment to saving children around the world," said Vice Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Gabe Amo. “After months of direct engagement with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the State Department, we still need certainty. There is more work to do to ensure funds flow for the production and delivery of more RUTFs to severely malnourished kids around the world. I will keep pushing to cut Trump’s foreign aid red tape, save children’s lives, and protect Rhode Island jobs."
