PROVIDENCE, RI – TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) toured the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and met with Rhode Islanders harmed by President Donald Trump and Republicans’ shutdown and cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law cut $187 billion in funding from SNAP, stripping millions of Americans of their ability to put food on the table. The massive cuts to SNAP and Trump’s tariffs, which are driving up grocery costs, are being compounded by the Republican government shutdown, which is putting November benefit payments at risk for millions.

Warren, RI – TODAY, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI-01) joined small business owners in Warren to discuss their fears about Republicans' refusal to lower health costs and reopen the federal government. Approximately 7,000 small business owners in Rhode Island rely on the ACA for health insurance. Republicans are letting Enhanced Premium Tax Credits, which make ACA health insurance plans through HealthSourceRI affordable for countless small business owners, expire.
