Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, the U.S House of Representatives sponsors a nationwide high-school arts competition. Since 1982, more than 650,000 students have been involved with this contest, also known as the Congressional Art Competition.

For students in Rhode Island's First Congressional District, the competition is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the artistic skills of young artists. Our office looks forward to reviewing the submissions from our district, which covers the towns and cities of:

  • Jamestown
  • Newport
  • Middletown
  • Portsmouth
  • Little Compton
  • Tiverton
  • Bristol
  • Warren
  • Barrington
  • East Providence
  • Providence
  • North Providence
  • Pawtucket
  • Central Falls
  • Lincoln
  • Smithfield
  • North Smithfield
  • Cumberland
  • Woonsocket

The competition is open to high-school students in these municipalities. The overall winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one (1) year in the United States Capitol as part of an exhibit that includes artwork from other districts’ contest winners.

This year, Congressman Amo will be introducing an optional theme for art submissions: Hope in the Ocean State.

To be considered for RI-01's Congressional Art Competition, all entries are due by Friday, April 18th, 2025

What are these options?

Constituents who are hard of hearing or use a video phone have the option to choose TDD or VP based on the type of device they are using. This allows our office to respond to them accordingly. The default option 'Voice' is a standard audible telephone.
