WASHINGTON, DC –  TODAY, Rhode Island’s federal delegation cheered the Senate’s passage of bipartisan legislation led by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) to posthumously honor America’s first Black military unit with the Congressional Gold Medal.  Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Congressman Seth Magaziner (D-RI) cosponsored and strongly advocated for the legislation.

WASHINGTON, DC – TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) introduced a resolution honoring the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at Brown University, marking nearly six months since the tragedy.  The resolution remembers the two students who lost their lives, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, recognizes the nine individuals who were injured, commends first responders, and expresses gratitude to the entire Rhode Island community for its swift and compassionate response during this difficult time.
