Amo Blasts Trump and Republicans for Shameful Cuts to Medicaid and SNAP

WASHINGTON, DC – TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) issued the following statement on the House passage of the Big, Ugly Bill:

"Today’s passage of Trump’s big, ugly bill demonstrates Republicans have no values. On their leader’s marching orders, Republicans orchestrated the largest theft in American history to further enrich the richest among us.

Republicans are shamefully bludgeoning our health care system, snatching families' food assistance, and looting their wallets by jacking up gas and electricity prices — just to gift Trump’s billionaire buddies an extra $847 a day.

Trump’s scheme steals from the poor to give to the ultra rich. It’s cruel, callous, and just plain wrong. I will work day and night to protect the programs Rhode Islanders rely on and to reverse the harms of this diabolical wealth transfer."
