Amo Joined Meals on Wheels and Local Organizations to Deliver Lunch to Providence Seniors

Congressman Amo is working to reverse Republican cuts in the Big, Ugly Law, threatening seniors’ access to food assistance programs
PROVIDENCE, RI – FRIDAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) visited Fox Point Manor in Providence with Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island to deliver food to seniors.
Amo spoke with leaders and volunteers from Meals on Wheels, Opportunities Unlimited, and YWCA RI about the need to restore the food assistance programs President Donald Trump gutted in the Big, Ugly Law.
“Meals on Wheels is a lifeline for Rhode Island seniors, providing both nutritious food and community support,” said Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI). “I heard directly from non-profit leaders, Meals on Wheels RI volunteers, and seniors at Fox Point Manor about the urgent need to safeguard food assistance and health care access for seniors. While President Trump and Congressional Republicans gut these programs that feed and care for our seniors through their Big, Ugly Law, I’m standing with Rhode Islanders to protect the resources they depend on.”
“We were honored to welcome Congressman Amo to our congregate dining site at Fox Point Manor and show him firsthand the power and impact of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island’s programming. We deeply appreciate his leadership on behalf of older adults in Washington, alongside the rest of our congressional delegation,” said Meghan Grady, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels RI. “As we look ahead to FY26, we must continue to advocate for increased funding for senior nutrition and protect essential programs like ours that address the growing epidemic of hunger and isolation among older adults."
