Amo Releases 2024 End-Of-Year Report of Activities and Wins for Rhode Islanders
Comprehensive document highlights achievements guided by a core principle to deliver effective service and representation
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, on the final day of the year, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) released his 2024 End-of-Year Report which highlights activities and wins over the 118th Congress. The report lays out efforts help Rhode Islanders with federal agencies, bring investments and federal funding to the First Congressional District, and advance legislation on key priorities for the Ocean State. The report also showcases the services and programs available to Rhode Islanders such as scheduling tours of Washington D.C., ordering flags flown over the U.S. Capitol, and providing citations for local celebrations and commemorations.
“As we wrap up 2024, I'm reflecting on our team’s work for the First Congressional District over the past year. It has been an honor and privilege to work for my constituents,” said Congressman Amo, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. “As we enter the new year, I’m ready to build on the progress we've made and raise my voice to amplify Rhode Island values.”
BACKGROUND
Among the achievements for Rhode Island highlighted in the report, Congressman Amo:
- Recovered $1,615,667 from federal agencies for residents and small businesses.
- Responded to 13,112 letters, calls, and emails.
- Secured over $20 million in federal funding for 15 community projects in the First Congressional District.
- Helped marshal more than $220 million in federal support to rebuild the Washington Bridge.
- Supported a record-breaking $30 million in federal funding for Rhode Island’s fire departments and firefighters.
- Conducted a Blue Economy tour of the district and introduced key legislation to advance ocean science and research.
- Shepherded his bipartisan AI literacy bill — the LIFT AI Act — through passage in the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
- Introduced common-sense legislation to keep Rhode Islanders safe and curb the epidemic of gun violence.
