Amo to Launch Blue Economy Tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District

PAWTUCKET, RI – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01), a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, announced a multi-day, multi-stop tour to highlight Rhode Island’s leadership in the Blue Economy. Throughout the tour, Congressman Amo will convene discussions with the workers, small business, education institutions, and nonprofits that are at the heart of the Blue Economy in Rhode Island. The tour will feature key industries like offshore wind, coastal resiliency and design, ocean research and innovation, and marine manufacturing prominent in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District.

“Since being sworn in last year, I’ve been focused on marshaling federal support for Rhode Island’s Blue Economy,” said Congressman Gabe Amo, a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. “I’m excited to launch to this Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First District to convene stakeholders, exchange ideas, and find new areas of collaboration to unleash the full potential of our state’s greatest natural resource. I look forward to learning more about our community and bringing these insights back to my work in Washington.”

BACKGROUND

Since being sworn into office, Congressman Gabe Amo has been a champion for Rhode Island’s Blue Economy and for action to address the climate crisis. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, he supports federal programs and funding to promote Rhode Island’s green and blue economies and create the jobs of the future. In addition, he has advocated for clean energy to reduce Rhode Island’s carbon footprint while carefully balancing the preservation of natural resources.
