Providence, RI – U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed and Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs has awarded $600,000 in funding to the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Center for Forensic Sciences to reduce the backlog of DNA casework and ensure justice can be served for victims of both violent and non-violent crimes.  With this funding, the state’s crime lab expects to typically process cases within 30 days for violent crimes and 90 days for non-violent crimes.

Providence, RI – The effort to replace the westbound Washington Bridge got a major boost today as U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today joined with Governor Dan McKee in announcing a $95,589,533 INFRA (Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight & Highway Projects program) grant for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT).

PAWTUCKET, RI – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01), a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, announced a multi-day, multi-stop tour to highlight Rhode Island’s leadership in the Blue Economy. Throughout the tour, Congressman Amo will convene discussions with the workers, small business, education institutions, and nonprofits that are at the heart of the Blue Economy in Rhode Island. The tour will feature key industries like offshore wind, coastal resiliency and design, ocean research and innovation, and marine manufacturing prominent in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District.

PROVIDENCE, RI – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo announced $1,600,000 in competitive grant funding for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to better support small businesses in the construction, transportation, and renewable energy industries through the RI Rebounds Technical Assistance Program. Administered through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Investing in America Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP) that was reauthorized and expanded by the American Rescue Plan Act, this award will assist underserved and very small businesses in Rhode Island.

TIVERTON, RI – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, and Congressman Gabe Amo announced that the Little Compton-Tiverton Prevention Coalition was awarded a $125,000 federal grant for the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program. This funding, which was provided by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will help support efforts in Little Compton and Tiverton to reduce youth substance use.
