Amo Reaffirms America’s Global Commitment at Munich Security Conference

February 16, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01), a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, announced plans to attend this weekend’s Munich Security Conference. In his first official overseas travel, Congressman Amo will express unwavering support for upholding international commitments.

“Amidst the chaos, confusion, and inaction we are seeing from my some of my colleagues and the de facto leader of their party, I am honored to attend the Munich Security Conference to express America’s unwavering support for our transatlantic institutions,” said Congressman Amo, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe. “The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has ensured a safer world since being created after World War II, and our promises should not be questioned. We must stand up for democracy and against Putin’s aggression in Ukraine. We need to quickly pass the national security supplemental in the House following the strong, bipartisan vote in the Senate earlier this week. I look forward to building peace through dialogue at this important conference by meeting leaders from around the world, standing up for our national security, and defending our global commitments.”

The Munich Security Conference is considered by many to be the premier forum for international security policy. The conference provides a unique platform to discuss and develop diplomatic initiatives to address the world’s most pressing security concerns with our allies. Building trust and contributing to the peaceful resolution of global conflicts is at the heart of the international security conference that assembles senior decision-makers from around the world, including heads of state, prime ministers, leaders of international and non-governmental organizations, and high-ranking representatives of various industries, media, academia, and civil society.
