WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) voted to pass the bipartisan Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024, which included several priorities to bolster climate resiliency, strengthen flood protection, invest in infrastructure, and increase regional collaboration with neighboring states.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) introduced the Southern New England Regional Commission Act. The Southern New England Regional Commission Act would establish a commission that would encourage jurisdictions at different levels to work together to leverage federal support to strengthen the area’s economy.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse joined Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo in announcing the reopening of the Global Entry Enrollment Center at T.F. Green International Airport. When it abruptly closed for renovations on July 6, 2020, the center left Rhode Islanders unable to conveniently schedule their required in-person interviews for Global Entry.

WASHINGTON, DC – The mighty Blackstone River, originally known as ‘Mishkittakooksepe’ by the Narragansett people,flows for 48 miles through Massachusetts and Rhode Island, ending at Pawtucket Falls in Rhode Island.  For centuries, the river has served as a lifeline to people living in the Blackstone Valley and continues to be rich in both history and biodiversity.  The river played a crucial role in transportation, irrigation, as a drinking source, and due to its unique elevation, as a source of hydro power during the Industrial Revolution.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressmen Gabe Amo (RI-01) and Seth Magaziner (RI-02) participated in a breakfast and briefing hosted by the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island to the discuss the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) and new opportunities to apply for funding. This program provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements for at-risk nonprofits. Federal funding is awarded by the Department of Homeland Security, which has warned about increases in violence against nonprofits and faith institutions.

CENTRAL FALLS, RI – In an effort to assist immigrants on their path to citizenship, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced that Progreso Latino is receiving a $293,888 federal grant from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Office of Citizenship.

Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced a new $31,933,577 Low-Carbon Transportation Materials grant for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) to allow the State to incorporate low-carbon transportation materials in construction projects and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  The building and construction sector is the largest contributor of global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for 37 percent of annual emissions.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI -- Highlighting the importance of well-maintained port infrastructure, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced $11.25 million in new federal funding for the Port of Davisville at Quonset Point through the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP).  The Quonset Development Corporation (QDC) will use the federal funding, which was made possible through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, to move forward with its Project GUARD: Gateway Upgrades for Access, Resilience & Development.
