WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to help public school students across the state capitalize on educational opportunities and become college and career ready, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today joined Governor Dan McKee in announcing that Rhode Island will receive a new federal grant providing a projected $33.6 million over the next seven years.

CRANSTON, RI – Building on years of work to assist flood-prone residents in the Pocasset River Watershed, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced the Rhode Island office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA NRCS) has been authorized to implement the Pocasset River Flood Damage Reduction Project.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Rhode Island’s Congressional delegation today announced that the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is awarding a team of academic researchers led by the University of Rhode Island (URI) $8 million through the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Collaborations for Optimizing Research Ecosystems Research Infrastructure Improvement Program (E-CORE RII).

BOSTON – Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) celebrated a $210,000 grant to the Rhode Island Department of Health to protect the health of beachgoers. This funding is part of $9.75 million in national grants, announced in June, to help coastal and Great Lakes communities. The funding will support water quality monitoring and public notification programs for beaches.

Green International Airport.

CUMBERLAND – To help the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island continue to strengthen and expand programming and services for local youth, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed and U.S. Rep. Gabe Amo said they teamed up to deliver an $850,000 federal earmark to support a renovation project at the Cumberland-Lincoln Clubhouse and grounds on Martin Street.
