WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to assist the state in the wake of a cyberattack against RIBridges – the state’s integrated online platform for social services – and mitigate the impact of the attack on Rhode Islanders, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requesting additional flexibility and assistance to ensure residents are protected and do not lose access to vital services.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – In a step that could ease traffic congestion and improve public safety in the neighborhoods near the Washington Bridge, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman Gabe Amo today announced a new federal grant to inform future upgrades to key infrastructure and technology related to traffic control along the City of East Providence’s most trafficked roadways.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) announced introduction of his new legislation, the Responsible Retirement of Law Enforcement Firearms Act. This legislation, which is co-led by Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08), would prevent former police service weapons from being sold or transferred to unscrupulous firearms dealers.

Gun safety advocates rallied around Rhode Island’s freshman congressman Friday to support a bill aiming to stop service weapons resold by law enforcement agencies to federally licensed firearms dealers from being used to commit crimes.

Rhode Island’s two-member U.S. House delegation has turned over in the last few years. In the Second District, Congressman Jim Langevin dropped a surprise announcement in 2022 that he would not seek re-election after 22 years in office. Then First District Congressman David Cicilline, initially elected in 2010, made his unexpected departure last year. That latter move opened the door for Gabe Amo, a son of West African immigrants, to become the first person of color to represent Rhode Island in Congress.

Green International Airport.
