PROVIDENCE, RI – In a continued effort to modernize aging parts of Providence’s emergency response vehicle fleet, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today joined Mayor Brett P. PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island has been awarded $11.56 million in federal funding to help save lives and better connect residents struggling with opioid use disorder to treatment, recovery and prevention service, the state’s congressional delegates announced Thursday.

WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to save lives and better connect Rhode Islanders struggling with opioid use disorder to treatment, recovery, and prevention services, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced $11,363,011 for Rhode Island through the federal State Opioid Response (SOR) grant, administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to help Rhode Island’s law enforcement community close cases on violent crimes that, in many cases, have been left unsolved for decades, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced that the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha will receive a $500,000 federal grant for the office’s cold case unit of investigators and prosecutors.

WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) spoke about the inane Republican effort to hold the Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt of Congress. In a House Committee on Foreign Affairs markup hearing, Congressman Amo denounced partisan attacks on President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken and called out Republicans who impeded a thorough investigation of the Afghanistan withdrawal by focusing only on actions taken after President Biden took office. Congressman Amo also reminded committee members that Donald Trump was derelict in his duty by failing to process visas for Afghan allies and by insisting on troop withdrawals despite the Taliban’s lack of compliance with the Doha Agreement.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, in a House Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia Subcommittee hearing titled “How Tehran’s Terror Campaign Threatens the U.S. and our Allies,” Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) spoke about Iran’s support for militia proxies that seek to destabilize the region. In the hearing, Congressman Amo also recognized the upcoming one-year anniversary of the attack on October 7, 2024 and reiterated his call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to both release the hostages and surge humanitarian aid to Gaza.
