WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) spoke about the inane Republican effort to hold the Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt of Congress. In a House Committee on Foreign Affairs markup hearing, Congressman Amo denounced partisan attacks on President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken and called out Republicans who impeded a thorough investigation of the Afghanistan withdrawal by focusing only on actions taken after President Biden took office. Congressman Amo also reminded committee members that Donald Trump was derelict in his duty by failing to process visas for Afghan allies and by insisting on troop withdrawals despite the Taliban’s lack of compliance with the Doha Agreement.

In the hearing, Congressman Amo also recognized the upcoming one-year anniversary of the attack on October 7, 2024 and reiterated his call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to both release the hostages and surge humanitarian aid to Gaza.

At the hearing, Congressman Amo spoke about the Biden-Harris Administration’s work to strengthen the AUKUS security pact and its critical role in maintaining security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology passed H.R. 9211, the Literacy in Future Technologies (LIFT) Artificial Intelligence Act, which is co-led by Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) and Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07). The bipartisan bill would improve artificial intelligence literacy for K-12 students.

Smiley, East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva, Chief Richard A. Susi (ret.) of the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs (RIAFC), and local firefighters to announce $22.05 million in federal funds for fire departments in Providence and East Providence and volunteer departments throughout the state.
